Mango

"Mango" is a tropical plant founded in many regions around the world. In Thailand, Mango is an economic fruit. Thailand is the third largest exporter in the world after Philippine and Mexico. In addition to being easy to grow, mango also contains many nutritional benefits. There are many species of mango in Thailand.

Khiaosawoey Sampran Mango, originated in Sampran, Nakhon Pathom. It has long shape, dark skin and crunchy. When it is ripe, it has yellowish pulp and sweet taste. Nowadays, it is one of the most well-known mango species in Thailand up to date.
Raet Pad Rew Mango, originated from Chachoengsao. Raet Mango is a light-weight mango that can grow quickly. It has rough skin and horn grows from the top back. When it is unripe, it has sour taste. When it is ripe, it turns yellowish and has sweet-sour taste.
Okrong Damnern Mango, also called ancient Okrong Mango. It is usually eaten when it is ripe. People said that it is the best mango to eat with Khao Niew Ma Muang (Mango with sticky rice). Okrong Mango can be grown in many areas in center region of Thailand. However, the most famous Okrong Mango in Thailand came from Bang Chang, Amphoe Damnernsaduak, Ratchaburi Province. It can only be grown in March-April of every year.
Nam Dok Mai Bang Khla Mango is one of the famous mango species, because it can be grown quickly and is demanded by international markets. When it is ripe, it has delicate yellowish pulp and sweet taste. The most famous types of Nam Dok Mai Mango are Nam Dok Mai Mango Number 4 and Golden Nam Dok Mai that come from Amphoe Bang Khla, Chachoengsao Province.
"Tourism Festival Mango Food and Specialty at Bang Khla” is held on March - April. There will be mango contest, booths selling mangos and specialties of Bang Khla, and other agricultural products.
